A Proposal to support the Arts!
Enter the Dragon
Founded by Meredith Hagedorn, a professional actor and director in
regional theatres across the country, Dragon Productions Theatre Company
has an eight-year track record as a leading provider of intimate,
professional live theatre in the mid-peninsula region. After several
years of wandering from venue to venue, Dragon Productions has found a
home at the corner of Alma and Hamilton in downtown Palo Alto. This
location affords businesses the unique opportunity of partnering with a
live theatre company to market themselves to over 4,500 prospective
customers. Dragon’s mission is to provide affordable, high quality live
theatre and arts classes. Although other professional and semi-professional
theatre groups exist in the South Bay, none of them is located in downtown
Palo Alto, nor offers reasonably-priced, rarely-seen productions in an
easily accessible, small theatre.
Dragon’s 2009 Season will feature:
Greater Tuna by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, & Ed Howard
By 1985, this was the most-produced play in the US and you’ll see why.
It’s a hilarious and affectionate comment on small-town southern life
& attitudes, but also a withering satire of the same. When set in the
intimate Dragon Theatre starring the fantastically versatile pairing of
Tom Gough & Daniel Mitchell, you’ll see this production done with
Dragon’s own flair.
(January 30th – March 1st )
The Cocktail Hour by A.R. Gurney
Employing Gurney’s characteristic pitch-perfect
ear for the manners of the privileged, the author exposes the sometimes
embarrassing truths hidden inside the cocktail cabinet.
(April 17th – May 10th)
A Girl’s Guide to Chaos by Cynthia Heimel
If you are a fan of Fran Lebowitz, Bridget Jones’ Diary or Sex and the City,
you certainly won’t want to miss this sassy comic venture into the romantic
& sexual escapades of the urban female in 1980’s Los Angeles.
(July 17th – August 9th)
The Memory of Water by Shelagh StephensonIt’s
remembering which helps three sisters survive the despair of losing their
mother and come to terms with their own lives. From start to finish
The Memory of Water is a whirl-wind of emotions, bouncing from hilarious hysterics
to twisting sorrow and pain. In the end, it’s very simple: sometimes a good laugh,
a good cry and a good hug are the best therapy.
(August 21st – September 13th)
Side Man by Warren Leight
A moving, dramatic-comedy stage memoir of a '40s jazz musician through the
twilight years of the big band, Side Man is a haunting, blues-y tale full of
characters who will stay in our hearts and minds for a long time.
(November 13th – December 6th)
