Not the same old children’s acting camp.  Your children are young artists in our eyes & we want to nurture that.  They will learn the basics of acting, or develop the acting skills they’ve already acquired, in a fun and stimulating environment. The first half of classes will be spent working on voice, movement, and character through games and exercises. The last two hours will be dedicated to working on scenes that will be presented in a showcase on Saturday, July 19th. The focus of the camp will be the development of a character and of an interactive relationship between scene partners.

Teachers:

Ben Gullard is a Menlo Park native and graduate of Menlo Atherton High School. He is currently pursuing a double major in Drama and Psychology at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. His theater credits include North Shore Fish, here at the Dragon Theater, as well as numerous high school and college productions for both acting and design.

Laurie Roberts, recipient of the 2005 Rotary Club Award for Drama, graduated from Menlo-Atherton in the same year. She has studied theater since the ripe age of one playing the role of Jesus in a Christmas Nativity scene. Her love for performing continues to grow as she wraps up her third year studying drama and dance at the University of Washington in Seattle. Laurie also enjoys writing plays, high jumping, learning, snowboarding, stage makeup, soccer, singing, collaborating, improv, and, of course, acting. She hopes to continue her involvement in theater for the rest of her life.

*Once you have registered, in May or June, one of the teachers will be contacting you to get information about your young artist, laying out the schedule for the workshop, & answering any further questions you might have.
