The 2013 Season

After Ashley
by Gina Gionfriddo

Directed by Dale Albright
January 25th – February 17th, 2013

From the author of Becky Shaw comes After Ashley, a biting dark satire that looks at a father and son coping with the loss of a loved one in the eye of a media storm. After Ashley skewers televisions shrinks, Lifetime movies, Law & Order: SVU, reality television, and the recent trend toward tell all true crime stories and our fascination with the gory details of murder.

Les Liaisons Dangereuses
Based on the novel by Choderlos de Laclos, script by Christopher Hampton
Directed by Jeffrey Bracco
April 19th - May 12th, 2013

A tale of seduction set in France among aristocrats, this drama explores decadent sexuality, morals and manipulation played as the ultimate battle of the sexes between the rivals Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont. In this classic story of revenge, love, lust, and betrayal, Les Liaisons Dangereuses shows us that "the only thing which might surprise one is how little the world changes."

2nd Annual New Play Development Factory

May 24th - June 9th, 2013

The New Play Development Factory will workshop three original full length scripts by Bay Area playwrights over three weekends. These staged readings will evolve every week with rewrites of the scripts based on audience feedback. Join us as we celebrate the creativity and talent of the Bay Area!

Becky's New Car
by Steven Dietz

Directed by James Nelson
July 12th - August 4th, 2013

“When a woman says she needs new shoes, what she really wants is a new job. When she says she needs a new house, she wants a new husband. And when she says she wants a new car, she wants a new life.”  Becky Foster is suddenly offered a chance at an adventure, and gets entangled in a web of lies that result in a hilarious ride. Written by playwright Steven Dietz, author of 2011's comedy Private Eyes.

And Miss Reardon Drinks A Little
by Paul Zindel
Directed by Shareen Merriam
August 30th - September 22nd, 2013

The inaugural production of Chicago's legendary Steppenwolf Theatre, this dark comedy explores the lives of the three Reardon sisters, who have recently lost their mother. During an uncomfortable dinner reunion, a well-meaning but obnoxious set of neighbors crash the party and set an already incendiary situation ablaze.

Rich and Famous

by John Guare
Directed by Meredith Hagedorn
October 11th - November 3rd, 2013

One of "the world's oldest living promising young playwrights," Bing Ringling's 844th script is finally about to be produced, bringing Bing dreams of being, well, rich and famous. A surreal musical comedy, Rich and Famous is part vaudeville, part absurd, and an entirely funny romp through the perils of being a successful artist, by playwright John Guare, the genius who also wrote The House of Blue Leaves and Six Degrees of Separation.

November

by David Mamet
Directed by Troy Johnson

November 22nd - December 15th, 2013

A lesbian, a turkey lobbyist, and a Native American walk into the White House... it's not a bad joke, it's November by David Mamet (Glengarry Glen Ross). There's hilariously biting commentary on the state of the union, a politically incorrect (and possibly inept) president in the death throes of his failing re-election campaign, and some Thanksgiving turkey pardons for sale - so basically it's vintage Mamet. Please be aware that this play contains a good deal of adult language (which is also vintage Mamet).
