About
Dragon
Dragon Productions is an emerging
nonprofit theatre production company currently planting roots in the Palo
Alto area. Meredith Hagedorn, Executive
Producer, has been successfully producing quality theatre since 1991.
Since moving to the Bay Area in 1999, Dragon Productions began as a nomadic
theatre company producing 9 shows before we decided that we needed our own
home. We are currently in the middle of our 2nd season in our brand new theatre space
in downtown Palo Alto. Thanks to generous sponsors and kind community
support, we've had great success so far and hope to pick up the momentum in
order to provide more quality theatre throughout the year. The talented
people who comprise Dragon Productions proudly flout this motto: "If you
want to do something amazing, you have to make it happen. Don't wait around
for others to give you the opportunity." In the coming years, we are
confident that Dragon Productions will continue to flourish and provide
high-quality theatre in the Bay Area.
Dragon's goal is to provide professional high-quality theater in an intimate
space, providing rarely staged works — as well as a variety of fascinating
arts classes — to the mid-Peninsula region.
We intend to carry this out by:
- Regularly producing consummately professional, cutting-edge plays in
the heart of Palo Alto — ones that will attract substantial audiences and
major reviewers.
- Attracting and retaining professional actors from throughout the Bay
Area for all our productions.
- Contributing to the general appreciation and enjoyment of the arts in
the local community through acting workshops with recognized experts,
children's classes, and so on.
- Maintaining a single, independent location in order to consistently
produce quality theatre.
